The Author & Illustrator
Freya's Funny Feeling celebrates Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME)
writers and illustrators by bringing together two emerging talents.
Samia Quddus has taught as a primary school teacher for over 14 years recently specialising in children's social and emotional mental health. She is an integrative child and adolescent counsellor having completed specialist postgraduate diploma training with the nations leading children's mental health charity, Place2Be.
Samia’s work with children from diverse backgrounds both in the UK and international settings has contributed towards developing her skillset to make a positive difference as well as raising awareness
of children and young people's social and emotional wellbeing.
Freya’s Funny Feeling is the outcome of conversations with children Samia has worked with
and so she is incredibly grateful to every little person for inspiring her to write this story.
Rahima Begum is a London based artist, illustrator and creative consultant. Illustration is at the heart of her practice. She has worked with both emerging and established authors from across the globe, academic institutions in need of murals for children and illustrating for magazines and non fiction.
In a world of increasing tech, Rahima is very much keen to preserve ink on paper - hand drawn methods.
Much of her commissioned work has a distinct timeless earthiness to it which resonates her own personal style.
