    The author, Samia Quddus, is a qualified integrative child and adolescent therapist having completed training with the nations leading children's mental health charity, Place2Be. She has an extensive background in teaching having taught as a primary school teacher and recently specialising in the SEN area of social and emotional mental health.

     

    The scheme of work supports the story, Freya’s Funny Feeling, and is ideal for whole class or small group social and emotional learning (SEL). Both resources aim to support educators and support staff promote children's emotional wellbeing.

     

    This scheme contains 7 detailed lessons which are fun, practical and engaging. Sessions are clearly written and can be easily adapted for differentiation. Resources are also included. Opportunities for Assessment for Learning (AFL) are made throughout. The scheme is cross-referenced against the new RSE framework and the PSHE Association Updated 2019 Programme of Study . 

     

    The scheme is suited for the following areas:

    o  Transitions - new school, year group or between key stages

    o  Loss, separation and/ or parental separation

    o  SAT’s/ class tests

    o  New beginnings/ endings

    o  Mental Health Awareness Week

    o  Therapeutic work

    o  Social stories for low level anxiety
