Author, Samia Quddus is delighted to have a piece on her children's picture book Freya's Funny Feeling featured in June's 2020 edition of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Children and Young People's magazine.

In this piece Samia describes her personal and professional experiences that led to the creation of her story, much of which was inspired during my time as a Special Educational Needs teacher in Doha, Qatar and later developed through her therapist training with the children's mental health charity, Place2Be . As an emerging author, it is wonderful to share the platform with more popular authors like Matt Haig and Tom Percival to raise awareness of mental health issues within a fictional realm in books and give young children a tool to help them understand their feelings. Much credit to the BACP, the largest professional body representing counselling and psychotherapy in the UK, for bringing the story to the attention of mental health professionals to utilise in their therapeutic work with young children.
